“I’m in Favor of God, Guns and Oil”: President Trump Drives Home Energy Dominance Message During Anchorage Visit July 11, 2022 Speaking for nearly 90 unscripted, no-teleprompter-needed minutes in front of 6,000 red, white and blue-clad supporters in the Alaska Airlines Center on the University of Alaska, Anchorage campus, former President Trump didn’t hold back. Two years ago, President Donald J. Trump made a pledge. Find someone to run against incumbent U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski, and he’d support them with a campaign event in Alaska. Saturday, he fulfilled that promise. Aside from his full-throated support for Alaska Governor Michael Dunleavy, Murkowski challenger Kelly Tshibaka and U.S. Congressional candidate (and 2016 Trump-endorser) Sarah Palin, he spent much of his speech trashing the Biden presidency for the damage it has done to Alaska and America. Touting the fact that America was energy independent, “and in fact, energy dominant, before Joe Biden ended it with his incompetency”, Trump spoke glowingly about the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), which was opened under his watch. “America might not have a bigger supply, a supply so big it could make Alaska the top producer, if not for a little state – yes, a little state – like Texas!”, Trump exclaimed. He extolled those in attendance and watching nationally on Newsmax to “fight, knowing we can have dominance again.” He teased the crowd with a chance for them to help him in a return to campaigning for his old seat, saying, “we can make America great again with your help, and return Alaska jobs, Alaska resources and Alaska pride in 2024.” Trump’s stop in Alaska was only for a day, but it was invigorating to so many across the state, and its energy will ripple through the midterms. Power The Future will continue to work to help America’s energy sector return to being dominant, rather than a pariah as it is under President Biden. Alaska Back to Blog Posts
