House GOP Investigating Granholm’s Failed EV Road Trip September 27, 2023 Yesterday, the House Oversight Committee announced an investigation into Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm’s electric vehicle road trip, which was nothing but a failure. The four-day trip even included a family calling the police as Granholm’s staff had reserved a charging station for her with a gasoline-powered car. The New York Post reports, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) and House Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Energy Policy, and Regulatory Affairs Chairman Pat Fallon (R-Texas) sent a letter to Granholm on Tuesday, requesting records “to understand the purposes, costs, and consequences” of her EV excursion. The House panel chairmen called the energy secretary’s four-day trip from Charlotte, NC, to Memphis, Tenn., in a Cadillac Lyriq a “publicity stunt” that demonstrated “how out of touch the Biden Administration is with the consequences of policies it has unleashed on everyday Americans.” Power The Future Founder Daniel Turner applauds the House Oversight Committee’s investigation, “The fact that Joe Biden is forcing EVs on American families when they can’t power his own publicity stunts is very telling, and we applaud the House Oversight Committee for seeking answers around this debacle. The Biden Administration relentlessly attacks our energy industry while throwing billions of dollars at failed schemes like EVs. Make no mistake: gas prices are high because of Joe Biden, costs are through the roof because of Joe Biden, and America’s working families don’t want to buy the EVs being forced on them by Joe Biden.” This administration continues to push electric vehicles onto American families when they can’t even handle a short road trip. We are glad to see the Oversight Committee doing its job and investigating how our tax dollars are used. Back to Blog Posts
