Gov. Lujan Grisham Remains Silent as Biden EPA Targets New Mexico Energy

June 30, 2022

Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham remains silent as President Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) plans to raid New Mexico’s energy industry. The EPA has announced it may soon deem parts of the Permian Basin, which includes New Mexico, in “non-attainment” with ozone standards. This move comes at the request of the eco-left.

The Wall Street Journal editorial board writes, “Green groups last spring petitioned the EPA to do this to effectively force curbs on shale fracking. The Permian is currently the most productive, and cost-effective, oil shale reserve in the U.S. It accounts for 43% of U.S. oil production.”

In response, Texas Governor Greg Abbott is fighting back by noting the action would further raise gas prices and impact workers in the energy industry. Gov. Abbott is fighting for energy workers in his state. Gov. Lujan Grisham… not so much. She is a vocal Biden ally and has remained silent on EPA’s attack on her state.

“Governor Lujan Grisham’s silence in this critical issue can only mean one thing: her priority is politics and not people,” said Larry Behrens, communications director for Power The Future. “With New Mexico already facing record gas prices and the highest unemployment in the nation, you would think Governor Lujan Grisham could put partisanship aside to fight for our families. You would be wrong.”

For the energy workers of New Mexico, Lujan Grisham’s silence is deafening.
