EPA Employees Fight Returning to the Office During Biden’s Fumbled Response To East Palestine

February 23, 2023

The train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, happened over 20 days ago, but President Biden’s administration has been slow to act. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is just now traveling to Ohio after days of pressure. And many Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) employees are focused on delaying their return to the office.

According to the Washington Post, a bipartisan push encouraging federal employees to return to the office has “unsettled” many EPA employees. One union leader said, “So many of us work on reducing emissions in our daily jobs at the EPA.” They continued, “So to be able to do that not only through our work, but how we get to work, is really important.”

“While families in East Palestine beg the Biden Administration to do their job, taxpayer-funded EPA employees don’t even want to show up,” said Daniel Turner, Founder and Executive Director for Power The Future. “Apparently cutting down commutes trumps any concern for the ability of the people of Ohio to drink water. The demands of the eco-left are always out of touch, yet this might be the first time they’ve used the planet as an excuse for not saving lives.”

The people of East Palestine cannot be left with the uncertainty of the potentially hazardous consequences of the chemicals spilled in this derailment. It is time to get to work rather than hide behind a fabricated climate change excuse.
