38 years (and 5 days) after Al Michaels’ famous cry, we’re on the brink of another amazing American victory according to Reuters. The USA is poised to overtake Russia as the #1 oil producing nation in the world.

We can- and should- all chant USA! USA! USA! This is great for our economy, for American jobs, and also for international stability. But we need to clarify one thing: it’s not a “miracle”. Miracles can’t be explained, and the boom of American energy production is very, very explainable. It’s ingenuity. It’s experimentation and learning and thousands of hours of determination and grit. It’s the hard work and entrepreneurial spirit we see in all the American energy workers, and we celebrate them every day at Power The Future.

So grab the flag and do a victory lap, American energy workers. You’ve won gold.
