Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Finally Puts A Price Tag On Her “Green New Deal” June 6, 2019 For months, eco-activists have been touting Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “Green New Deal” as something that we desperately need to force into law. But from the outset, they forgot one major aspect of any plan – how much it would cost. Activists from the Sunrise Movement toured the country promoting the plan, 2020 candidates embraced it with open arms, and the Senate even voted it down – all without Ocasio-Cortez giving us the price tag. Now, that’s changed. Yesterday, Ocasio-Cortez finally admitted how much the “Green New Deal” would cost, and it’s a whopping figure. The Hill reports that Ocasio-Cortez believes the plan will cost “at least $10 trillion.” “I think we really need to get to $10 trillion to have a shot,” Ocasio-Cortez said in response to questioning from The Hill. “I know it’s a ton,” she admits. It’s more than a ton. It’s a number so large that it is almost impossible to comprehend. That $10 trillion represents more than twice the annual federal budget. It’s over half of the U.S. GDP. And AOC believes $10 trillion is just a starting point – the true cost is surely much higher. Does it even need to be said that this would bankrupt our nation? Who will pay $10 trillion in higher taxes? The left might claim the rich will simply pay their fair share, but that doesn’t pass the smell test. Every single American would have to sacrifice their income to appease the environmental left under this plan, and it still wouldn’t be enough. Fortunately, even Ocasio-Cortez admits this will likely never become law. “It’s not popular, it’s not politically popular,” she says. For once, she’s exactly right.
