Biden Pushes Gas Tax Holiday that will Save Americans a Grand Total of $5 June 27, 2022 Last week, President Biden made a big deal about his push for Congress to pass a 3-month federal gasoline tax holiday. The president claimed this would be a big help to the American people struggling with high fuel prices this summer. The problem is this action wouldn’t save Americans much at all. The Wall Street Journal reports: “An analysis by the University of Pennsylvania found that the president’s proposed three-month suspension would save Americans an average of $5 to $14 in total, according to Xiaoyue Sun, senior analyst for the Penn Wharton Budget Model.” With historic inflation across the board, $5 is not going to be much help to the American people. This is yet another political gimmick by President Biden so he can say he is trying to do something to help. The reality is fuel prices are high because the Biden administration has punished the American fossil fuel industry with regulations and executive orders from the moment they came into power. Now, the president is hoping that $5 will make the American people forget who is responsible. Don’t count on it, Mr. President. Back to Blog Posts
