Permanently Banning Oil and Gas Leasing on Public Lands Would Be Catastrophic

President Biden has waged war on the oil and gas industry since stepping into office. One of the many overreaching executive orders he signed his first day in office was the halt of new oil and gas leasing on federal lands and waters until his administration conducts a comprehensive review of the impacts.

Interior Secretary Deb Haaland will be leading a virtual forum tomorrow as part of that review, hearing from stakeholders within the industry and opponents.

Since the beginning of his campaign, the eco-left has been puppeteering Biden’s stances on energy policy and have been the real driving force behind shaping Biden’s aggressive climate promises.

And their influence is no secret, as the Nevada Current reports:

“This is President Biden fulfilling a campaign promise,” said Aaron Weiss, the deputy director of the environmental group Center for Western Priorities. “It’s honestly overdue.”

What the eco-left fails to address is that if a permanent ban were enacted it would have major ripple effects across the country and no solutions to fill those massive holes in our economy, tax revenue, and workforce.

“We have a shared goal for a low-carbon future, but this is the wrong approach and will only lead to more foreign energy imports from countries hostile to American interests,” American Petroleum Institute CEO Mike Sommers said in a statement.
