It Begins: Electric Rates Will Go Up Due to New Mexico’s Green New Deal

No wonder supporters of New Mexico’s Green New Deal want to reshape the Public Regulation Commission (PRC.) It appears that when the PRC does its job, the truth comes out and supporters of New Mexico’s Green New Deal can’t handle it.

Buried in this article discussing the New Mexico Supreme Court’s decision to bypass the PRC, was an admission about increased electric rates due to New Mexico’s Energy Transition Act. According to the article a witness for PNM, the largest utility in the state, told the PRC:

“…Vice President and Corporate Controller Henry Monroy, even acknowledged costs associated with transitioning to a new energy source after the utility abandons the coal plant could result in increased rates…”

Keep in mind, PNM and supporters of the ETA have been telling New Mexicans their bills will go down because of the radical law.
