Profiles in Convenience: New Mexico’s Senators Sign on to the Green New Deal

When the U.S. Senate had the chance to vote on the disastrous Green New Deal, not a single Senator voted in favor. The vote was 57-0 with many Democratic Senators simply voting “present.” Yet six months later, New Mexico’s two Senators swear they’ve had a change of heart and now support the Green New Deal.

It begs the question: Is the Green New Deal about the environment, or about the politics?

After all, since supporters of the Green New Deal swear we have to act now on the climate, why do the Senators from the Land of Enchantment feel it’s acceptable to lose precious time?
