Michael Bloomberg Realizes He’ll Never Be President

It may have taken him months of speculation, trips to key states like Iowa and Florida, and even rolling out his own Al Gore-style global warming documentary to realize what he should have known all along – the United States will never elect Michael Bloomberg as president.

Yesterday, Bloomberg called it quits, joining his fellow eco-extremist billionaire Tom Steyer on the sidelines, announcing in an op-ed that he will not run for president.

But just like Steyer, Bloomberg claims that he will stick around and devote himself to yet another cause. For Steyer, that seems to be impeaching the President without any good reason. For Bloomberg, it will be an even more extreme eco-agenda.

Bloomberg wrote in his op-ed yesterday that he will expand his Sierra Fund-backed “Beyond Coal” campaign to what he calls “Beyond Carbon: a grassroots effort to begin moving America as quickly as possible away from oil and gas and toward a 100 percent clean energy economy.”

Let’s break this down for a moment. Michael Bloomberg, a fabulously wealthy billionaire with “between 12 and 15 houses worldwide” and a fleet of private aircraft, including his own jet and helicopter, is seriously telling the rest of us how much carbon we ought to use? This is the height of hypocrisy.

To make matters even more insulting, Bloomberg is calling his billionaire-funded campaign “grassroots.” Is this a joke? By definition, a political group funded by a billionaire is decidedly not grassroots.

In the world of elite, liberal billionaires, there’s one set of rules for them and another for us, and no one exemplifies this more than Michael Bloomberg. He wants to change our way of life while he lives the high life with his many homes and aircraft.

At least he had the foresight to realize the American people would see through his charade and declined to run for president.
