Left Civil War: Ocasio-Cortez Attacks Joe Biden’s “Middle Ground” Eco Plan

May 13, 2019

For today’s increasingly extreme eco-left, even Obama-era environmental policies are not acceptable and don’t go far enough.

Last week, Power the Future told you how Vice President Joe Biden is considering rolling out a “more centrist” energy and environmental plan that could “seek to embrace energy sources like nuclear and fossil fuel options.” He would re-enter the Paris Climate Agreement and maintain Obama-era regulations.

These Obama policies are already far to the left. But for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, they are not extreme enough.

On Friday, Ocasio-Cortez attacked Biden for even considering releasing a “middle ground” plan.

“This is a dealbreaker. There is no ‘middle ground’ w/ climate denial & delay,” Ocasio-Cortez said on Twitter. She called Biden’s not-yet-released plan a “lack of leadership.”

This is how the eco-left talks. They attack anyone who dares to disagree with them, and they’ll go after a plan that doesn’t even exist. That’s right, Biden hasn’t even released his plan yet, and Ocasio-Cortez is trying to score Twitter points to rile up her base.

It’s funny that Ocasio-Cortez thinks appealing to the middle is a “dealbreaker,” when the extreme costs and technical impossibility of her “Green New Deal” is the real dealbreaker.

In fact, Bloomberg reports this morning that just one part of the “Green New Deal” would cost over $1 trillion annually and that reaching zero-emissions by 2030 is “functionally impossible.”

American families do not have an extra $1 trillion to fork over to the government, and even if they did, reaching Ocasio-Cortez’s eco-goals would be “impossible.”

That’s the very definition of a dealbreaker.

Before Ocasio-Cortez attacks others, perhaps she should look in the mirror.
