Former California Governor Launches Eco-Institute With World’s Biggest Polluter

September 24, 2019

The hypocrisy of the eco-left knows no bounds.

Politico is reporting that former California Governor Jerry Brown has launched a “climate-focused think tank at the University of California, Berkeley, in partnership with China’s top climate official, Xie Zhenhua.”

Governor Brown has long been a stalwart of the eco-left, and he has attacked the Trump administration’s pro-energy agenda.

As Politico notes, “Brown said the new institute is an outgrowth of his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing in 2017, as well as with Xie and other academics at China’s Tsinghua University.”

The problem for Brown is that this move is rife with environmental hypocrisy, and it gives the world’s biggest polluter – China – cover that it does not deserve.

As USA Today explains, China is “far and away the world’s top CO2 emitter,” thanks to it’s “massive coal production.”

“Overall coal production has tripled since 2000 to nearly 4,000 million metric tons – approximately half of all global coal production,” USA Today notes.

Last time we checked, didn’t the environmentalists want to ban coal? Why are they now promoting what in their eyes should be the world’s greatest eco-threat?
